Here is an interesting project that we would like to share with our followers. An over sized sliding door repair, roller replacement and glazing. This extra large door is very old and heavy. Removing the door was very difficult, however, replacing the rollers and reglazing the door was not a walk in the park either. Imagine an old heavy door about 50 years old that probably has not moved much in many years. The rollers were completely shut. Rust and dirt covered the rollers and the screws.
As you can see in the photo, the rollers do not look like any standard rollers. For over sized sliding doors the rollers are built different. In addition, for the very old sliding doors its harder to locate the exact parts. Therefore, finding the replacement rollers and replacing them made us and the customers very happy. Now after the rollers got replaced it was time to reglaze the door. Meaning, the rubber around the frame sealing the glass and holding it in place was worn out.
From the many years of neglect, the frame of the over sized sliding door was very hard to take apart. In order to fix the glazing properly, the removal of the door panels is necessary. However, with the years and the weight, the parts were not coming apart so easily, and we had to keep the movement slowly in order to avoid bending the frame or causing any damage.
After putting the door together and adjusting the rollers on the freshly tuned up track, the over sized sliding door was sliding like butter. Our customers that just bought the condo were so happy they do not have to replace the door with a new over sized sliding door, and we were able to make the door slide like new again.

I have big French doors in my living room and for a few months we have struggles with getting the doors to close and lock, it was always a battle and we couldn’t locate a replacement lock. Thankfully Rich and Chris know their trade, they took the handle and the lock apart, repair and fixed it, and now the doors are so smooth m, we forgot how nice it is.
